Gordes, village of Luberon

Gordes, Vaucluse’s village

A perched village between Apt and Avignon, overlooked by its towering fortress-castle and its church. As you meander through the narrow paved streets, you will be enchanted by the discoveries you will make around every corner: vaulted entries, ancient doorways, stone fountains, commanding views over the valley and the Luberon hills. Not to be missed: a tour of the castle (which houses the Pol Mara Museum), the village of the bories (listed as an historical monument in 1977) : the origins of the bories (drystone huts) are date back to the Bronze age, the most recent having been discovered in the 18th century.
